Do you have a photogenic research topic or are you using MAXQDA in unusual places to transcribe, code, and analyze? Then we look forward to seeing your shots of great, exciting research projects in our annual MAXQDA Photo Competition. We look forward to receiving your entries in which you can show that qualitative research can be astonishingly beautiful.

The submission window for 2024 is closed. The next Photo Competition will be held at the end of 2025.

Terms and conditions of participation

  • Who is eligible to participate in the MAXQDA Photo Competition?
    • The MAXQDA Photo Competition is open to all regardless of age, gender or nationality.
    • Entrants under 18 years of age require the permission of a parent or guardian. By entering the Photo Competition entrants under 18 years of age indicate that they have obtained the permission of a parent or guardian.
    • The Photo Competition is not open to employees of VERBI GmbH or its subsidiaries or affiliates.
  • When can photos be handed in?
    • Photos for this year’s MAXQDA Photo Competition can be submitted from 05 November until 10 December 2024.
  • How can photos be handed in?
  • Is the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and image generation software allowed?
    • No. Only photos created by the entrants themselves will be accepted in this competition. Entries generated in whole or in part using AI are not permitted and will be excluded from the competition.
  • How are the winners selected?
    • An internal MAXQDA jury will select the top 5 entrants. The selection will be made in December 2024, and the winners will be contacted shortly after.
  • How do winners receive their awards?
    • The MAXQDA team will reach out directly to the winners to provide details about the 12-month Audible membership or the 1-year MAXQDA Analytics Pro license.
  • How is the entrants’ personal information handled?
    • The MAXQDA Photo Competition is managed by VERBI GmbH. VERBI GmbH collects the following personal information:

      – First name
      – Last name
      – Instagram name (when participating in the contest through our Instagram channel
      – The entrant’s e-mail address
      – Photo submitted
      – Background information on the photo submitted

    • VERBI GmbH uses the entrants’ contact details (first name, last name, Instagram name, email) to keep them updated on the MAXQDA Photo Competition, or to request feedback.
    • The entrant permits Verbi GmbH content generated (photo submitted and background info on photo submitted) to be re-used and shared in online and offline media. The submitted photos may be slightly edited (cropping, slight changes to settings, etc.).
    • If entrants would like to make use of your right of revocation or objection, it is sufficient to send an email to communications@maxqda.com
    • VERBI GmbH acknowledges that the competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Instagram.
  • Entrant’s Responsibility for Photo Rights and Permissions
    • By entering the MAXQDA Photo Competition, entrants confirm to have full rights to the photo submitted and have asked permission from persons, locations, etc., in the photo submitted. VERBI GmbH cannot be held accountable for any violation of personal rights, and copyrights related to the content submitted by the entrants (photo submitted and background info on photo submitted).
